Special thanks to Bonanza Tzellybean for the music!
“America, after all it is you and I who are perfect, not the next world… It occurs to me that I am America. I am talking to myself again.”
The film with footage from the unit’s roadtrip to the States, is an attempt to demonstrate the equal significance of details and nature in a country of overabundance. It indicates a shift in reality and one’s range of focus, in a land of constant make-believe and storytelling. The Joshua trees are, in fact, a group of scruffy monsters.
Interactive theatre performance. I went to this about a year and a half ago. Since it is based in New York I thought it may interest a few people!!
For those who don’t know about it, the performance is based on the Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The audience is invited to explore the McKittrick Hotel, which is essentially a stage set divided into rooms on a few levels inside some building in New York, whilst various performances of each and every character in Macbeth is played out simultaneously.
The performance itself is muted (as in no script; various sounds playing in the background). The storyline is expressed through dance, facial expression and bodily movements so it can be extremely difficult to understand what is going on. I would advise a skim through Macbeth prior to the visit. The audience as participants have freedom to explore but remain anonymous wearing masks throughout the performance (which you can leave at anytime).
